Admissions : Book Awards From the Book Award Co-ChairAs a recent Wellesley graduate, it has been an honor to volunteer as a local Book Award Chair to encourage students from my home town to strive to matriculate to a prestigious East Coast college such as Wellesley. We are very grateful to Wellesley alumnae interested in supporting the Book Award program and desperately need all the help you may offer. Thank you for helping to further Wellesley's program in your community!
The Wellesley College Book Award honors young women in their junior year of high school who have been top scholars as well as talented performers in extracurricular areas. The Book Award program is geared to recognize outstanding women and give them the opportunity to become better acquainted with Wellesley. Prestigious high schools are invited to elect students who are visible members of their schools and communities. Most importantly however, recipients should be the academic leaders in their secondary schools. Wellesley's history is rich with women who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and in personal achievements. We hope to continue that legacy with the Book Award.
We also recognize that some areas of the country are not as familiar with Wellesley as we would wish. The Wellesley College Book Award program promotes Wellesley's name in schools and college counseling offices across the country and around the world. The program allows us to build bridges with many different communities. Many students choose to apply to Wellesley because of the name recognition the Book Award brings to their high schools. We view this program as invaluable visibility as well as deserved recognition for individual students.
Book AwardsThe Alumnae Association is pleased to offer ____. Wellesley's edition is a beautiful blue linen slip-cased publication with the Wellesley seal embossed in gold and bookplate printed on a special tipped-in page.
